Hey everyone,
During what I consider to be Habbo's height days (2005-2012), there was actually some competitors on the market. One of these was TAATU, a project that originated in Belgium and was played a lot by me as a kid. Unfortunately it didn't reach the same heights Habbo did and actually shutdown, and most of this online world was thought lost to time.
Thanks to recent breakthroughs in AI it's been possible for this game to be revived and playable in modern browsers, I've been working on a community version of TAATU myself that both has everything the old TAATU had to offer but also implements some must needed improvements inspired by Habbo.
TAATU has a distinct artstyle that differs from Habbo, one of its main features that it pioneered even before Habbo was the option to customise your clothing. It also featured TV screens you could put up in your own rooms that would play real media.
I combined this with some new features already: classic teleporters and working dice that work similarly to Habbo have already been added. These are things that Habbo can't trademark but I believe these two items open a world of creativity for players.
Since this is in no way related to Habbo and the company behind TAATU has been bankrupt for 15+ years I think there is a lot of unrealised potential as this game could appeal to a similar audience to Habbo (Origins) and be seen as a real competitor to Habbo itself.
What I’m looking for:
I'm both hoping to connect with players that remember TAATU or see the potential the game has to offer.
Anyone who would like to get involved in some capacity (whether through playtesting, providing feedback & feature ideas or being able to design art in the form of new furni or clothing) is welcome to reach out and can do so on my discord (Alagesia).
