theoretically, would it be possible to hack on Shockwave itself and increase this limit? admittedly, i have not dug into the internals of Director/Shockwave at this level before so i'm not sure what files would even be relevant.

Nice release! A great testimony that it doesn't matter how hard people try to obfuscate or hide implementation details; the community will always figure out how to reverse missing features and content that others try to keep out of the communities hands.

The problem was not opening the files or editing them I stated this literally twice in the thread, the issue was being able to RE-OPEN the files after editing them🤦‍♂️ The answer was that I was attempting to save the edits via "Save As" where you actually want to use "Save and Compact"
